Welcome to the OK Hospital Breastfeeding Project home page. Please feel free to make use of any resources you find here to help improve the breastfeeding care and practices at your hospital. See below for more information about this statewide project.
With funding from the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), I am pleased to report that I will be working with Oklahoma birthing hospitals to provide staff education, evidence-based resources and ongoing technical support in the area of lactation and breastfeeding care.
Please see the attached letter for more information.
My goal is to partner with each birthing facility to assess your current level of breastfeeding care and identify any opportunities for improvement. I will partner with key leaders at each hospital to individualize the support and help overcome any challenges. I can offer in-person staff trainings, individual "train the trainer" sessions, ongoing technical support and additional staff education and resources as needed. I have a variety of resources available to maximize the training opportunities for your staff.
Click here for a list of courses and training sessions.
I look forward to working with each hospital and their team. Please feel free to email or call with any questions or additional information. The Office of Perinatal Quality Improvement (OPQI) is also collaborating with me to facilitate this project and Barbara O'Brien, OPQI Program Director, is available to answer any questions as well.
With your commitment to this project, together we can improve the health of our state by helping more mothers and babies successfully breastfeed.
