Oklahoma Children's Cancer Association
Since 1974, the Oklahoma Children's Cancer Association (OCCA) has been helping children, along with their families, cope with the emotional, physical and financial struggles associated with having cancer. Through special programs and assistance to the Jimmy Everest Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, the OCCA provides safe and rehabilitative activities for the patients treated at the Jimmy Everest Center.
The OCCA is an independent, non-profit organization run by volunteers. Many of these volunteers are parents who have experienced a child with cancer and the chemotherapy and radiation treatments involved. All funding to the organization goes to developing programs and providing assistance directly to these children with cancer. Association initiatives include a special toy/game room for treatment areas, art programs, camps, parties, college scholarships for patients, educational materials, and research support. The OCCA is affiliated with The Children's Hospital at OU Medical Center.
