<p>This very special center&nbsp;is designed to improve the treatment experience for a child, and the child's family, when faced with cancer or a blood disorder.</p>
<p>James "Jimmy" Christopher Everest died in 1992 at the age of 17, after a brave bout with bone cancer. Memorial donations were made to create the Jimmy Everest Center&nbsp;in honor of his life.</p>
<p>Staffed by <a href="body.cfm?id=139">OU Children's Physicians</a>&nbsp;the Jimmy Everest Center is a <strong>child's best resource in providing cancer and blood disorder treatment</strong>, along with emotional and mental support. The child-friendly center, which serves as a referral center for children throughout Oklahoma and the region, focuses on three main programs: the Cancer Treatment Program, the Oklahoma Hemophilia Treatment Center, and Sickle Cell Anemia Program. Other rarer blood disorders are also given treatment at the center.</p>
