New OU Children's Physicians Building

Progress on the new 14-story OU Children's Physicians Building moves ahead, with completion and move-in slated for late spring, 2009. The building under construction at 13th and Phillips, adjacent to The Children's Hospital, continues to take shape and reveal more of its intended form and function day by day.

The project provides the first free-standing, pediatric multi-specialty physicians building in the state. It will expand, update and improve the facilities available to Oklahoma's children and their families, as well as OU Physicians, scientists and staff involved in pediatric health care in our state.

The University Hospitals Authority and Trust began the project in early 2006.  The overall project design includes a beautiful glass atrium, considered the crown jewel of the project, providing a new main entrance to The Children's Hospital and serving as a gateway to health for young patients and their families.

"These are certainly exciting times for us as we move toward completion of  a new home for OU Children's Physicians, " said Dean Gandy, executive director of the University Hospitals Authority and Trust. "This project creates a beautiful building, which is certain to further enhance the appeal of our campus. More importantly, though, it provides a state-of-the-art medical office building designed to meet the needs of patients and their families where top specialists will continue to provide advanced care for the children of our state."

The atrium's family-friendly design makes a visit to the doctor's office or a trip to the hospital more pleasant for both patients and their families. Key elements include:

  • A nature-inspired interior including water features, natural light and calming décor
  • Retail and food services
  • A rooftop garden
  • Easy access to doctors' offices, hospital rooms and other destinations
  • Easy-to-navigate halls
  • Simplified signage to guide patients and visitors
