About Neonatal Care

Supporting a Range of Needs
Neonatal Services can provide care for 88 premature and sick newborns.  Premature infants range from the smallest 24-week gestation infant to 36 weeks gestation.  Other infants that are cared for are full-term infants (from 36-40 weeks gestation) who have not fully adapted to life outside the womb and require oxygen and/or ventilation, and those infants who have congenital defects that may require surgery.  Additionally, we provide INO (Inhaled Nitric Oxide) and ECMO (Extra-Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation, also known as heart-lung bypass) for those infants who would not otherwise survive without life saving interventions.

Highest Level of Care in Oklahoma
Our NICU can provide the highest level of neonatal care in Oklahoma - Level III care.  Level III care is for the sickest infants, and for infants that are transported by Medi Flight from across the state of Oklahoma and the region.  We also provide Level II+ care, which is available for intermediate/intensive care infants, and Level II care, for intermediate care infants.  Infants who are able to stay in mom's room after birth stay under the care provided by the staff of our Women's & Newborn Pavilion.
