| Ally's House Donates $500,000 to Children's Hospital |
| Ally’s House, a charity devoted to providing support to Oklahoma children diagnosed with cancer, has donated nearly $500,000 to The Children’s Hospital to provide enhancements to the oncology unit located on the hospital’s 10th floor. When this phase of the renovations and improvements are complete, there will be four new areas on the oncology unit to improve the quality of life for patients and families facing cancer treatments and hospitalizations. New Playroom – The new playroom will be a place for patients to escape the life of a hospital patient and interact with other kids in a positive environment. This will be a space for kids to be kids, to relax, have fun and play games. Family Resource Room – The Family Resource Room will be a space where parents can get information about cancer treatment, access to resources and information about possible support from Ally’s House. In addition, there will be wireless access in the area so laptops can be used and communication can continue between family members and loved ones outside of the hospital Multistation Infusion Room – The Multistation Infusion Room will have several stations with dividers for patients receiving either inpatient or outpatient treatment. Parents can sit with their child and watch movies or play games during the treatment process. Palliative Care Room – The Palliative Care Room will provide a home like environment with the support of hospital care for families who are facing end of life. There will be beds right next to the patient’s rooms so the parents can be bedside at a moments notice. “Most of the kids in Oklahoma that are diagnosed with cancer are treated right here in Oklahoma at The Children’s Hospital,” said Linda Webb, Executive Director, Ally’s House. “We wanted to do something that will help kids diagnosed with cancer. “Being in the Hospital is hard,” Linda Webb added. “We wanted to do something on the oncology floor that will directly help these patients.” “Since the inception of Ally’s House, the group has been one of our hospitals biggest supporters,” said Chuck Spicer, chief administrative officer, Children’s Hospital. “The fact that they are so committed to directly helping families going through cancer treatment is a reflection of the organization. We are proud and thankful to be involved with such wonderful group.” Ally’s House Just before her second birthday, Allison (Ally) Webb was diagnosed with Wilm’s Tumors, a form of kidney cancer. Biopsies and tests showed that the tumor was actually found in both of Ally’s kidneys, which is uncommon, occurring in only five percent of Wilm’s Tumor cases. Ultimately, Ally had three major surgeries, multiple radiation and chemotherapy treatments and countless hospital stays. Unfortunately, Ally lost her battle with cancer on August 6, 2003, in her mother’s arms, a month shy of her 3rd birthday. Whenever Ally would return home after a hospital stay or treatment she would happily yell, “We are at Ally’s house.” So when Scott and Linda Webb decided to start a foundation in her honor, the name Ally’s House was the perfect choice. Spearheaded by Scott and Linda’s vision and supported by country music sensation Toby Keith, Ally’s House was formed in 2004 with the mission of providing support to Oklahoma’s children and their families who are facing cancer. That support continued and expands to this day.
