Building of the Future, For the Future

The new 14-story OU Children's Physicians Building is now home to nearly 160 children's health care specialists. Nearly every medical specialty is available here, and care is provided with child-specific expertise. Now located at 1200 N. Phillips Avenue, the facility conveniently houses radiological services, with pharmacy and lab services following soon.

OU Children's Physicians occupied this state-of-the-art facility in September 2009.

The project provides the first free-standing, pediatric multi-specialty physicians building in the state. It expands, updates and improves the facilities available to Oklahoma's children and their families, as well as OU Physicians, scientists and staff involved in pediatric health care in our state.

The University Hospitals Authority and Trust began the project in early 2006. The overall project design includes a beautiful glass atrium, considered the crown jewel of the project, which, when completed in 2010, will provide a new main entrance to The Children's Hospital serving as a gateway to health for young patients and their families.

"These are certainly exciting times for us as we move toward completion of  a new home for OU Children's Physicians, " said Dean Gandy, executive director of the University Hospitals Authority and Trust. "This project creates a beautiful building, which is certain to further enhance the appeal of our campus. More importantly, though, it provides a state-of-the-art medical office building designed to meet the needs of patients and their families where top specialists will continue to provide advanced care for the children of our state."

The atrium's family-friendly design makes a visit to the doctor's office or a trip to the hospital more pleasant for both patients and their families. Key elements include:

  • A nature-inspired interior including water features, natural light and calming décor
  • Retail and food services
  • A rooftop garden
  • Easy access to doctors' offices, hospital rooms and other destinations
  • Easy-to-navigate halls
  • Simplified signage to guide patients and visitors
