Alumni

The Office of Alumni and Development at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine strives to foster a continuing spirit of fellowship among graduates and to maintain and enhance the tradition of excellence of the College of Medicine.

The office complements the goals and purposes of the college through a variety of programs for its members and current students. Involvement in these activities also provides the opportunity to continue the relationships begun as students and to develop rewarding professional associations.

Alumni Days and Reunions
Alumni can reconnect with friends and former classmates on Alumni Day in May. The reunion schedule begins with continuing medical education, followed by campus tours and the annual reunion banquet at the new Oklahoma History Center. For information, contact Carol Modisette or Sarah Harris at (405) 271-2300

Student Alumni Program
Entering students and their families are welcomed into the College at the White Coat Ceremony where a faculty member presents each student with a white coat. Student Alumni in Training (StAT) fosters the student/ alumni relationship and encourages the involvement of College of Medicine Alumni in their programs. Throughout a student's career at the College of Medicine, many opportunities are provided for faculty and student interaction in a collegial environment. Many students and residents meet alumni informally during the admissions process. Alumni volunteers host students, who wish to spend time with a practicing physician, provide information to help students choose a specialty, and provide overnight lodging to fourth-year students going on residency interviews.

Special Events
An Evening of Excellence, initiated in 1985, is an annual tradition of the College of Medicine Alumni Association and the state's business and industrial leaders. The purpose of this black tie event is to help Oklahomans become better acquainted with the College of Medicine and to honor outstanding leaders from the business and medical communities. This event has raised over $2 million for seed grants awarded to help young investigators jump-start their research careers.

Alumni Support
Each year alumni and friends are solicited for gifts to the Annual Fund, which supports the college's departments, divisions and programs, as well as scholarships for students. Alumni also designate gifts for specific purposes within the College, including research, education and training programs.
