Rheumatology, Immunology and Allergy [Back to Top]
The clinical trials of OU Physicians Rheumatology are integrated with the Arthritis and Immunology Program at Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF). Most of the work underway is related to autoimmunity or inflammation. Systemic lupus erythematosus is a particular focus of many of the medical specialists. The Oklahoma Health Sciences Center houses the Lupus Multiplex Registry and Repository, which is a collection of DNA, serum, genotypes and clinical data from a large number of patients. OU Physicians Surgery has an active clinical research program designed to facilitate industry-sponsored Phase II, III, and IV pharmaceutical trials. The sections of General Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Trauma and Critical Care are actively pursuing new clinical research protocols.

The OU Physicians adult urology is involved in four main areas of research:

  1. Tissue-level mechanisms regulating the malignant phenotype in urologic malignancies
  2. Mechanisms of bladder defenses and physiology of diseases resulting from failure of bladder defenses
  3. Bio markers for early detection of cancer risk
  4. Systems biology
