Students are required to maintain health insurance coverage throughout their medical school career. Students may select their own private health insurance carrier; enroll in a plan offered by their spouse or parents; or enroll through Macori, Inc., which is the student health insurance plan contracted with the OU Health Sciences Center.
Needle stick coverage is also an important component to consider adding to a health insurance plan, particularly for third- and fourth-year medical students who will participate in clinical rotations both on- and off-campus. Macori, Inc. provides needle stick coverage for an additional $19.
The University also provides a voluntary vision plan for students enrolled at the Health Sciences Center. “The University of Oklahoma (OU) - Student Vision Services Plan” provides a variety of vision services at varying costs.
