Curriculum

The chosen curriculum includes all requrements of the ACGME. The curriculum also reflects the local strength our program in Southwest Oklahoma. We continually monitor and assess the outcome of the curriculum and with both faculty and resident support, strive to make the curriculum releveant.

PGY-1

The first year curriculum affords our interns excellent experience. Our curriculum is "front-loaded" in that the intern year is the most demanding of time and has the most call. Interns also participate in one 1/2 day of clinic per week.

PGY-2

With a diversity of rotations and much less call, PGY-2's have the opportunity to read and get the most out of rotations. Durring the second year of training, residents are in the clinic three 1/2 days each week while participating in one month each for rotations listed below.

Orthopedics 

Rural

Pediatrics

Intensivist 

OB

Nephrology

GYN

Radiology 

Cardiology 

ER 

Hematology/Oncology 

Elective 


PGY-3

The PGY-3 curriculum continues with an outpatient focus and many opportunities to explore individual interests. Each third year resident participates in four 1/2 days of clinic a week while participating in the rotations listed below. 

Internal Medicine

Gastroenterology

Rural

Sports Medicine

Neurology

Practice Management

Physical Medicine and Rehab

2 Elective Months

   

3rd year residents also participate in 3 months of the longitudinal rotation. The longitudinal rotation is designed to give residents the needed experience with wound care, otorhinolaryngolgy (ENT), GI procedures, ophthalmology, urology and family planning with the local health department.
