The OU Medical Center is host to students and interns from the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, and the University of Central Oklahoma. Dietetic interns get the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge learned in the classroom to the hands-on, clinical setting in an acute care university hospital. Educational experiences are provided in Clinical Dietetics, Community Nutrition and Foodservice Systems Management. The emphasis of the educational experiences is in Medical Nutrition Therapy. The Dietetic Internship is supervised by experienced registered dietitians at OU Medical Center, Department of Food and Nutrition. During the program, dietetic interns are scheduled to rotate through major units in the Department of Food and Nutrition at OU Medical Center as well as practice in all the acute care clinical settings. In these settings, interns learn, practice and assume all the varied responsibilities required of an entry-level dietitian.
