Children's Heart Center

Interventional Cardiology Program

As the first and most comprehensive program of its type in Oklahoma, our interventional cardiology team performs hundreds of highly technical invasive and interventional procedures each year to diagnose – and in many cases, correct – congenital cardiac defects in patients ranging from premature infants to full-grown adults.

Our multidisciplinary team is composed of board-certified interventional cardiologists, a highly specialized group of anesthesiologists and nurses, as well as an expert support team of clinical and administrative staff members dedicated to the care and treatment of patients.

This multidisciplinary and collaborative approach to care enables us to look beyond departmental lines to identify the best individualized solution for each patient’s unique condition. In doing so, we are often able to provide care and treatment for even the most complex heart defects by utilizing a hybrid approach, which combines a transcatheter interventional procedure with a surgical procedure, thus minimizing the number of open-heart surgeries.

Our team strives to remain at the forefront of technology through involvement in device studies and groundbreaking research projects. This commitment is further demonstrated through our team’s successful efforts to become an approved center for implantation of the Melody® Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve replacement. This procedure provides qualified patients with a minimally invasive alternative to surgical replacement of their failing valve, while still affording them improved functional capabilities and enhanced quality of life.
