The University of Oklahoma Medical Center is the primary educational institution for the ​OU College of Medicine and is a 350-bed tertiary care center. With a wide array of sub-specialties and ancillary services OUMC serves as a referral center for the entirety of Oklahoma and several surrounding states. It is a Level I Trauma Center and an NCI-designated Cancer Center. The clinical experience at OUMC allows residents to care for a medically complex and culturally diverse patient population. Over the course of three years approximately 75 percent of the resident's training occurs at OUMC.

The VA Medical Center is a 192-bed tertiary care hospital that is integrated into the Health Sciences Center campus. Similar to OUMC the VAMC offers a full array of subspecialty support. The residents run two general medicine teams, staff the MICU, and several consult services. Attending physicians are University of Oklahoma faculty members. Over the course of three years approximately 25 percent of the resident's training occurs at VAMC.
