Upcoming Events:

  • College of Medicine Module Renaming Celebration First and Second year medical students are assigned into modules that are named for individuals that have made a significant impact in the field of medicine. These are groups that students will work together in for the duration of their first 2 years of medical school. The American Medical Women’s Association proposed the renaming of one of these modules in honor of the first African- American woman to become a physician. The physician chosen was Dr. Rebecca Lee Crumpler, the first African American student at the New England Female Medical College and the first African American woman in the United States to earn an M.D. In celebration of this historic event, the College of Medicine will be hosting a reception on February 20, 2020, in collaboration with the OUSHC Chapter of the American Medical Women’s Association, the OU College of Medicine Office of Student Affairs, and the Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Engagement. Light refreshments will be served alongside a presentation on the history of Dr. Rebecca Lee Crumpler.
