  • Who can come to ATS events?
    • Anyone!  We offer up to 25 faculty development and educational events each year at no cost to the attendees.
    • Only 5 items/events are exclusively for College of Medicine, such as:
      • Membership into ATS
      • Educational Grants
      • Excellence in Teaching Awards
      • PAL Reviews
      • And “ATS 4 You” services

  • Who can apply for Membership?
    • A Faculty member within the College of Medicine who:
      • Supports the teaching mission of the College of Medicine
      • Is in good standing within the College of Medicine
      • Can provide evidence of quality and quantity of educational activities

  • Who can apply for an ATS Educational grant?
    • Any faculty member within the College of Medicine

  • What type of project is appropriate for grant acceptance?
    • Educational grants can be used in a variety of ways, including:
      • support for educational research
      • teaching–related supplies
      • teaching–related materials
      • teaching–related services
      • teaching–related travel
      • teaching–related meeting registration

  • Who can present a poster(s) at the COM Medical Education Day?
    • Anyone from the HSC campuses in OKC or Tulsa.
  • Are your events available online?
    • We have PowerPoints and Handouts of past ATS presentations available to everyone.

  • Can I retrieve my attendance record for ATS events?
    • Yes, contact us and request your personal or your faculty’s attendance data.

  • Can I request for ATS to send someone to talk to my department about a specific topic?
    • Yes!

  • Do you offer CME?
    • The ATS provides its events for free and does not provide CME, at this time.  However, occasionally, we collaborate with COM departments and present at their events which do provide CME.  If this is the case, we will make a notation in our advertisements.

  • How do I nominate someone for a “Dewayne Andrews, MD Excellence in Teaching” award?
    • Email a letter and any supplemental data to us by the August 1st deadline.
    • Supplemental data can include, but is not limited to, ratings, comments from learners and comments from co-workers.
    • Letters do NOT have to come from a supervisor or chair.

  • Do you offer 1-on-1 mentoring/consulting?
  • How do I ensure I receive announcements about ATS events?
    • Contact us and request to be added to the “Information Distribution List”.

  • I am new to campus, what program/event would you recommend to help acclimate me to teaching?
    • New teaching faculty are encouraged to attend our annual “Boot Camp”
    • Boot Camp is an Evidence-based Teaching: Best Practices Workshop
    • It is offered each year in September and runs from 8:00am-2:00pm

  • Can the guest speaker for Education Week talk to my department?
    • Contact us to check availability on our speaker’s itinerary.

  • I have a topic that I want/plan to present, could I present/practice it at an ATS event?
    • We are always looking for presenters!
    • Contact us to discuss your topic and the ATS requirements for presenters to see if we can “scratch each other’s backs”.
