INTERNAL MEDICINE PROVIDER JOINS OU PHYSICIANS

AtkinsRichard-Internal medicine01      OKLAHOMA CITY – Richard M. Atkins, M.D., has established his medical practice with OU Physicians. He has also been named an assistant professor with the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.

      As a board-certified internal medicine physician, he will provide primary care services to adults. He has a special interest in diagnosing and treating patients with multiple chronic diseases including chronic kidney disease, coronary artery disease, heart failure, liver disease, COPD, etc.

     Atkins served as a chief resident at Durham Veteran’s Administration Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina. He completed a residency and served as assistant chief resident at Duke University School of Medicine, Durham. He earned his medical degree, graduating with distinction, from the OU College of Medicine. He earned his undergraduate degree, graduating magna cum laude, from Oklahoma State University.

      He is a member of the American College of Physicians, Society of General Internal Medicine, Oklahoma State Medical Association and Oklahoma County Medical Society.

      Atkins sees patients in the OU Physicians building, located on the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center campus. For appointments in the internal medicine clinic, call (405) 271-3445.

OU Physicians serve as faculty at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and train the region’s future physicians.
