EkambaramVijay-Psych01      OKLAHOMA CITY – Vijayabharathi Ekambaram, M.D., a sleep medicine/psychiatry provider, has established her practice with OU Physicians. She has also been named an assistant professor for the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Psychiatrists are medical doctors specifically trained in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders.

      Ekambaram is Oklahoma’s first psychiatrist who is fellowship trained in pediatric sleep medicine. She sees pediatric, adolescent and adult patients. She is board certified in psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry and is board eligible in sleep medicine.

      Ekambaram completed several fellowships, including: sleep medicine at Harvard Medical School, Boston; child and adolescent psychiatry at George Washington University, Washington, D.C.; and adult psychoanalytic psychiatry at Baltimore Washington Center for Psychoanalysis, Laurel, Maryland. She completed her psychiatry residency at the OU College of Medicine. She earned her medical degree in India, and a Master of Public Health degree in epidemiology from the OU College of Public Health.

      Ekambaram is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Psychiatric Association and American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

OU Physicians serve as faculty at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and train the region’s future physicians.
