The OU Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City
The OU Health Sciences Center, located in Oklahoma City, is one of only four comprehensive academic health centers in the nation with seven professional colleges. Located in a 15-block area between the state capital and Oklahoma City's popular Bricktown entertainment district, some 2,800 students are enrolled annually. OU Medical Center, the academic hospital, includes two patient care towers and The Children's Hospital. In all, some 11,000 people are employed at the OU Health Sciences Center.

The College of Medicine is the centerpiece of the academic health center. It consists of five basic science departments, 18 clinical science departments in Oklahoma City and six clinical science departments at the College of Medicine in Tulsa. In addition, there are 53 separately accredited programs in the graduate medical education under college direction. Faculty are involved in teaching, research, and care of patients. Students have full use of the clinical, laboratory and teaching facilities of the OU Medical Center, the Veterans Administration Medical Center, other affiliated hospitals in Oklahoma City, three major teaching hospitals in Tulsa and various affiliated hospitals, clinics and long-term care facilities in other locations in Oklahoma.
