-Where are you from?
I grew up on a horse and cattle ranch in a small town just outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
-Where did you go to Medical School?
Although I went to The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, my true loyalty will always be with Oklahoma State. Go Pokes!
-Why did you choose ENT?
I was exposed to ENT early in life when my dad, who is also an ENT, would let me shadow him in clinic and in the OR. When I started medical school, I wasn't planning on going into ENT, but I quickly found that the mixture of surgical and medical management was both challenging and intriguing. I am definitely glad I chose this field, not only for the opportunities that it affords me, but also because the personalities of most ENTs closely fit my own.
-Why did you choose OU?
Choosing OU was an easy decision for me because I felt a genuine sense of camaraderie among the residents and the faculty any time I worked with them. I also loved that there is a family-like atmosphere you often see with smaller departments, but with the operative opportunities seen in large institutions. The facilities here are world-class and they are continuing to improve. I am especially excited about the new bed tower that will be opening in the Fall of 2020.
-What are your hobbies?
I enjoy talking sports, reading science fiction, building furniture, playing with my dogs, hunting and fishing and getting Braum's Ice Cream with my wife, Jacqueline.
-What do you like OKC?
Oklahoma City is an incredible place to live. It has an extremely affordable cost of living, very little traffic, a multitude of fun and unique restaurants and bars, as well as a lot of places to do things outdoors. I also enjoy going to Oklahoma City Thunder games, even though they inevitably let me down when the playoffs come around every year.
