Medical Director (Anatomic and Clinical Pathology)

The Department of Pathology of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) seeks an anatomic and clinical pathologist to join our growing practice. The holder of this non-tenure-track position, at assistant professor to professor rank, will serve as the laboratory medical director for OU Medical Center Edmond, a 73-bed community-based hospital. The successful applicant will also conduct collaborative or independent scholarship and teach pathology. Allocation of effort is flexible, with physician-educator and physician-scientist tracks available.

We support many centers of clinical excellence, including the rapidly expanding Stephenson Cancer Center.

Requirements are:

  • MD, DO, or equivalent degree
  • eligibility for medical licensure in Oklahoma
  • board certification or eligibility in anatomic and clinical pathology (American Board of Pathology)

Board certification or eligibility in a subspecialty of anatomic or clinical pathology, including cytopathology or hematopathology, is preferred. Interest or experience in patient safety and quality improvement would be a plus.

Anatomic Pathologists (Cytopathology, Head & Neck, GI, Pulmonary and Gynecologic)

The holders of these non-tenure-track positions, at assistant professor to professor rank, will also conduct collaborative or independent scholarship and teach pathology. Allocation of effort is flexible, with physician-educator and physician-scientist tracks available.

  • for cytopathologists, board certification or eligibility in cytopathology (American Board of Pathology) and experience or training in FNA performance

Significant experience or training in gastrointestinal/hepatic, head and neck, pulmonary and/or gynecologic pathology or in cytopathology is preferred, but other subspecialties will be considered depending on the needs of the department. Interest or experience in molecular diagnostics would be a plus.
