BCR-ABL1, Quantitative, Major

Specimen Collection, Storage, and Shipping

Test Information:

The test uses reverse transcription and PCR to detect and quantify BCR-ABL1 fusion genes resulting from the t(9;22)(q34.12q11.23) (Philadelphia chromosome) translocation involving b2a2 and b3a2 major BCR (MBCR, p210) breakpoints. The t(9;22) is found in chronic myelogenous leukemias (CML) and a subset of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) patients (about 25% of adult and 5% of childhood ALLs). The test is designed to monitor patients with known CML for residual disease and reports patient results based on the International Scale. Patient results and log reductions are relative to the IRIS baseline. This test does not detect and quantify minor BCR (mBCR, p190), micro BCR BCR, p230) or other major BCR transcripts.
