Test Information:

The HemaVision®-28N leukemia typing/subtyping system is a multiplex, nested, reverse transcriptase PCR assay that detects the following recurrent chromosomal rearrangements associated with leukemias:

Translocation Genes Involved Translocation Genes Involved
inv(16)(p13.11;q22.1) CBFB-MYH11 t(4;11)(q21.3-q22.1;q23.3) KMT2A-AFF1

The sensitivity of the assay depends on the mutation detected and ranges from 1 in 10,000 to 100,000 cells. Due to the heterogeneity of breakpoints and/or alternative splicing that occurs in many of the translocations/rearrangements, there is a rare possibility that a patient will have a variant form that cannot be detected or specifically characterized by the assay. This assay is not designed for quantitative assessment of specific chromosomal rearrangements.
