Hereditary Papillary Renal Cell Carcinoma Sequencing

Hereditary papillary renal cell carcinoma (HPRCC) is a hereditary condition that increases the risk of the papillary type of renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer). This type of neoplasm originates in the lining of the proximal convoluted tubule, the very small tubes in the kidney that filter the blood and remove waste products. Mutations in the c-met gene are linked to HPRCC development. C-met is a gene that encodes for the receptor to hepatocyte growth factor. HPRCC follows an autosomal dominant inheritance pattern.
