The Section of Diabetes/Endocrinology within the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center is seeking candidates with senior level research expertise in endocrinology and metabolism. These positions may be filled with either a PhD or MD. Successful candidates for these positions will assume Children's Medical Research Institute Endowed Chairs at the level of Associate or Full Professor. The Chair will assume administrative and management responsibilities for a team of researchers, and will assist in the development, expansion, and ongoing performance of a research program in endocrinology and metabolic diseases including diabetes mellitus. Protected time and support will be provided to develop their research programs with the expectation that independent extramural funding will be acquired in due time, if not already in place at the time of employment. The section currently employs 37 persons, including 4 MD faculty, 2 MD fellow, 5 PhD researchers, 1 PharmD, 2 practitioners, and 6 diabetes and endocrine educators, and has an annual NIH research budget of more than $2M. The Department of Pediatrics is a full-service multi-specialty department with 16 sections and more than 100 faculty members. The faculty constitutes the principal medical and research staff of the OU Children's Physicians and shares a common commitment to the well being of the state's children as well as providing a quality education to trainees.
