Drew Kelly, MD

I’m Drew Kelly, a fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeon at the University Of Oklahoma College Of Medicine.  I’m an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Rehabilitation, where I treat patients with musculoskeletal injuries, train orthopedic surgery residents, and generate new knowledge through medical research.

I grew up on a family farm in North Texas and played sports at the small-town level.  I graduated summa cum laude from Austin College in Sherman, Texas, with an undergraduate degree in history.  I earned my medical degree with honors from Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine.  After that, I completed my orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, followed by an additional orthopedic trauma fellowship at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.

The key selling point of my fellowship experience was minimally invasive treatment of pelvis and acetabulum fractures, which my fellowship director help popularize in the early 2000’s.  I also treat all manner of fractures and wounds from the shoulder to fingers and pelvis to toes.  I consider it a privilege to take care of our state’s most severely injured patients at Oklahoma’s only Level I Trauma Center as certified by the American College of Surgeons.

Most of my time outside of work is spent with my wife and three children.  We enjoy the community we have built with our friends from residency training and church.  I still like to lift weights and run, and I hope to do some hunting, fishing, and traveling in the not-so-distant future.
