Summer Scholars Immersion in Gerontology & Geriatrics (SSIGG)

The Donald W. Reynolds Department of Geriatric Medicine offers a newly designed Summer Scholars Immersion in Geriatrics & Gerontology (SSIGG) program.  Over a 10-week summer block, participating OUHSC students become familiar with the diverse policies, programs, agencies, and disciplines of geriatric health care.  Activities include case-based learning, didactic sessions, self-learning, program evaluation exercises, interdisciplinary engagement, clinical shadowing, and involvement in on-going research projects, all under the tutelage of interdisciplinary faculty members.

This half-time, ten-week summer experience provides an opportunity for immersion in the field of aging, allowing students to consider career paths in clinical geriatrics, gerontology, and/or aging research.  Prior research experience is not required.

How to Apply

The 2010 program will take place from late May through early August. The deadline to apply is April 30. Pending availability of funds, up to 3 students will be accepted with stipends of $1800 each for 20 hrs/week.
