How to Apply


In general, matriculation takes place in the fall. First-year graduate students and foreign graduates should first apply to the Graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences, GPiBS

A complete graduate school application includes:

  • Letter of intent from the applicant
  • Official transcripts
  • Two (2) recommendation letters
  • Official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores
  • TOFEL scores for foreign applicants
  • $25 application fee
  • $25 school processing fee

Foreign transcripts must be evaluated by World Educational Services

Some students may be considered for direct admission to the department but most will be admitted after completion of the GPiBS year. It is recommended that if you have not previously identified a faculty mentor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, you should apply to both GPiBS and the Department of Microbiology and Immunology.

Students wishing to apply directly to the Department do so by applying online and filling out the departmental Admissions Form. Send the supplemental form and three letters of recommendation to:
