Evening of Excellence

Since the inaugural event in 1985, the "Evening of Excellence" has provided over a million dollars for the establishment of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine Research Fund.   The grant monies have provided assistance for new avenues of investigation or enhanced established research projects.

The annual research dinner, known as the Evening of Excellence helps raise research dollars and honors a research scholar, a physician for distinguished medical service, and an award for distinguised community service.

Three of our surgery faculty members have received the Dean's Award for Distinguished Medical Service:

  • G. Rainey Williams, M.D in 1990
  • Ronald C. Elkins, M.D. in 1997
  • Russell G. Postier, M.D. in 2010

In 2006, the Harris Foundation, long-time sponsor of the Department of Surgery Library received the Dean's Recognition of a Distinguished Medical Institution at the Evening of Excellence dinner.
