Bariatric surgery has been shown to extend overall life expectancy.

Meet Our Doctors

Kevin Smith, M.D.,  is an Assistant Professor of Medicine for the Department of Internal Medicine. He obtained his medical degree from Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences and completed an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Oklahoma- Tulsa. Dr. Smith is board certified in Internal Medicine.

Robert Lim, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Surgery and the Vice-Chair of Education for the Department of Surgery.  He obtained his medical degree from the New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. Dr. Lim completed his residency at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center and later a fellowship program in minimally invasive surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School. He is a former military surgeon with 6 deployments to the combat zones of Iraq and Afghanistan. Dr. Lim is board certified in General Surgery.

Geoffrey Chow, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery. He obtained his Medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Texas and completed a General Surgery residency at the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University followed by a Minimally Invasive Surgery fellowship in British Columbia. Dr Chow is board certified in General Surgery.

Zhamak Khorgami, M.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery. He obtained his medical degree from Tehran University and completed a general surgery residency at University of Oklahoma – Tulsa. He completed fellowships in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at the University of Miami and the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Khorgami is board certified in General Surgery and has numerous publications in general and weight loss surgery.

Our experts are part of a multidisciplinary care team for weight loss and metabolic surgery with supporting specialists including mental health professionals, dietitians, and internal medicine providers.
