OKLAHOMA CITY—The Oklahoma Breast Care Center has joined with the state’s largest and most comprehensive hospital and its growing breast health program.

OU Medical Center Oklahoma Breast Care Center (OBCC) will continue serving patients at 13509 N. Meridian Ave., and 2601 SW 119th St. in Oklahoma City, as well as with its two statewide mobile mammography-screening coaches. OBCCs staff of 50 and four interventional breast radiologists will remain the same.

OBCC is a welcome addition to the OU Medical Center family, said Casey Woods, vice president of oncology services for OU Medical Center. The expertise and high level of patient care provided by OBCC will allow us to continue delivering and building upon our unified commitment to leading health care and keeping patients at the center of what we do.

OBCCs north location opened in 1986, establishing it as the first freestanding breast care center in Oklahoma. OBCC launched a statewide mobile screening program in 1989, and in 2004 opened a south location, making it the largest breast care provider in the state.

OBCC founder and interventional breast radiologist Dr. Larry Killebrew received his bachelors degree from the University of Oklahoma and his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

Dr. Killebrew said he is proud OBCC is now a part of the OU Medicine team.

Ive dedicated my career to advancing womens breast health, specifically in the early and accurate detection of breast cancer. After training at the OU School of Medicine, I have come full circle back to my roots. I am honored that what we have built for 30 years is now being handed over to the place I began my medical career.
