About Orthotics & Prosthetics

The OU Medicine Orthotics and Prosthetics Clinic specializes in pediatric, adult, and geriatric orthotics and prosthetics.  This includes myoelectrics, computer-controlled lower-limb prostheses, and sports orthotics. We have 3 ABC (American Board for Certification in Orthotics Prosthetics and Pedorthics) credentialed clinicians.  These clinicians measure, fabricate, and fit devices that support, align, correct, and prevent neuromuscular or skeletal conditions to improve body function and lifestyle.

In addition to our clinicians, we have an ABC certified Pedorthist who specializes in modifying and applying supportive devices, such as shoes and inserts, to improve the functionality of the feet and lower limbs.  Our focus is to care for a wide variety of patients, ranging from children to adults.

Orthotics and Prosthetics at OU Medical System is one section of our comprehensive Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Rehabilitation.  We offer our patients the full range of care for any musculoskeletal condition.  Our close integration with Oklahoma’s only Level 1 Trauma Center allows our clinicians a broad spectrum of expertise.  From minor discomforts to extenuating disabilities, we work with patients to restore a true quality of life.

Evaluations

From the initial screening at our Oklahoma City facility to long-term follow-up care, our practitioners walk through the process with you every step of the way.  Each patient’s treatment requires specialized care, therefor we perform thorough evaluations, taking into account a patient’s habits, lifestyle, and goals, before designing an orthotic or prosthetic device.  The orthotist,  prosthetist, or pedorthist will take measurements and may require follow-up appointments for fittings and adjustments.

We are committed to your long-term care.
