Live to Give Volunteer Program

OU Medicine Live to Give At OU Medicine, we are dedicated to the community we serve.  In addition to providing high-quality health care and customer service to patients, our physicians and staff donate their time to help make Oklahoma a better place. Through our Live to Give program, OU Medicine volunteers have given a boost to numerous charitable causes and made a positive difference throughout the community.

Getting involved in Live to Give events

Taking part in Live to Give is easy, fun and personally rewarding. Each month, OU Medicine organizes an official volunteer activity for employees and registers volunteers.  After slots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, an OU Medicine team of volunteers is dispatched to help a worthy cause in the community.

To recognize volunteers who go the extra mile, a Live to Give “Volunteer of the Month” is honored.  Winners are selected by the Live to Give program coordinator based on event participation, amount of time volunteered and other factors.  The Live to Give Committee also selects a “Volunteer of the Year” from the pool of monthly winners and awards a plaque and a cash prize to the honoree.

Volunteering for non-OU Medicine events

Live to Give members can also donate their time to worthy causes outside of the official monthly events.  To have those volunteer efforts considered for recognition, employees can provide the program coordinator with written documentation of their participation in the form of signed letter from the appropriate non-profit organization.

To address possible volunteer activity during the work day, OU Physicians and the OU College of Medicine have adopted a policy providing employees with compensated time off with permission from the appropriate supervision.
