Surgical Skills Simulation

The Surgical Skills and Simulation Lab, within the Clinical Skills Education & Testing Center (CSETC), provides educational and training programs for students, residents, practicing physicians and other allied-health professionals.

Under the direction of the Departments of Surgery and Obstetrics and Gynecology, the mission of the Surgical Skills and Simulation Lab is to provide the most up-to-date education and training in surgical techniques including minimally invasive and open procedures. Numerous modalities, including didactic lectures, laparoscopic trainers, open skills models and hands-on practice using operative models, are used to facilitate teaching knowledge, judgment and technical skill components.  Residents in the Departments of General Surgery and Obstetrics and Gynecology trained at the University of Oklahoma participate in a comprehensive curriculum utilizing many of the modalities within this center.
