Child Life 101

Have you ever heard of a Child Life specialist or the field of Child Life? Would you be interested in learning more about the Child Life profession? Are you currently a student wondering if your degree program will allow you to become a Child Life specialist? If you answered yes to any of these questions, Child Life 101 is for you!

Child Life 101 will be on Wednesday, April 10 from 7:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. (times are approximate)

We will not have a Child Life 201 this semester.

All applications must be printed with full payment included and mailed to the address below by Wednesday, September 26. Only checks accepted and please make checks payable to: The Children’s Hospital Volunteers, in the memo section, write Child Life 101 (this event is non-refundable)

Child Life 201 will be a more intensive workshop to help students who are on a serious path of becoming a Child Life Specialist.  It will be a half day course that consists of four workshops including information on practicum, internship, resume/cover letter, and interview tips and tricks. Please email us your cover letter and resume before the event and Please bring with you your Child Life cover letter and resume to the event.

Confirmation of accepted registration, directions and parking will be communicated with you via email

on October 3rd. This event will be hosted in Oklahoma City on Thursday, October 4th.

Child Life 201

Child Life 201 will be a more intensive workshop to help students who are on a serious path of becoming a Child Life Specialist.  It will be a half day course that consists of four workshops including information on practicum, internship, resume/cover letter, and interview tips and tricks. Please bring with you your Child Life cover letter and resume.

Child Life Practicum

The Child Life Practicum Program takes place in the summer (May-August) and fall (August-December).

Deadlines:
Be sure that your application packet is postmarked by the appropriate deadline indicated below. Your application must be complete to be considered for an interview. Please note that submitting a completed application does not guarantee an interview or practicum placement. Candidates will be required to meet in person if located within a three-hour drive, or be available via Skype or Zoom.

Child Life Internship

The Child Life Internship Program takes place in the spring (January-May) and fall (August-December) semesters.

Fellowship 

We also offer a Child Life Fellowship. The fellowship is an opportunity for further learning and growing as a child life specialist once a child life internship has been completed. It is a one-year paid position that usually starts in the fall. The position is posted in late spring and the application can be located at www.oumedicine.com under the Career Center section.
