Are you currently a student wondering if your degree program will allow you to become a Child Life specialist? If you answered yes to any of these questions, Child Life 101 is for you!

  • Our next Child Life 101 session will be Monday, September 23rd from about 7:30 a.m. -1 p.m. (approximately)
  • Child Life 201 will be Monday, September 23rd from 2-5 p.m. (approximately)

All applications must be printed with full payment included and mailed to the address below. Only checks accepted and please make checks payable to: The Children’s Hospital Volunteers, in the memo section, write Child Life 101 (this event is non-refundable).

Child Life 201 will be a more intensive workshop to help students who are on a serious path of becoming a Child Life Specialist.  It will be a half day course that consists of four workshops including information on practicum, internship, resume/cover letter, and interview tips and tricks. Please email us your cover letter and resume before the event and Please bring with you your Child Life cover letter and resume to the event.

Child Life 201

Deadlines:
Be sure that your application packet is postmarked by the appropriate deadline indicated below. Your application must be complete to be considered for an interview. Please note that submitting a completed application does not guarantee an interview or practicum placement. Candidates will be required to meet in person if located within a three-hour drive, or be available via Skype or Zoom.

Child Life Internship
We’re excited to announce that our Child Life Internship Program has been accredited through the Association of Child Life Professionals. To see a full list of accredited programs, please visit the Association of Child Life Professionals website. 

The Child Life Internship Program takes place in the spring (January-May) and fall (August-December) semesters.

Child Life Internship Application

Fellowship 

We also offer a Child Life Fellowship. The fellowship is an opportunity for further learning and growing as a child life specialist once a child life internship has been completed. It is a one-year paid position that usually starts in the fall. The position is posted in late spring and the application can be located at www.oumedicine.com under the Career Center section.
