Child Life 101

Have you ever heard of a Child Life specialist or the field of Child Life? Would you be interested in learning more about the Child Life profession? Are you currently a student wondering if your degree program will allow you to become a Child Life specialist? If you answered yes to any of these questions, Child Life 101 is for you!

Child Life 101:  Wednesday, September 20th: 7:30 - 1:30
                     
Child Life 201:  ​Wednesday, September 20th: ​12:00 - 5:00

Deadline to turn in application is Thursday, September 7th.

Child Life 201

Child Life 201 will be a more intensive workshop to help students who are on a serious path of becoming a Child Life Specialist.  It will be a half day course that consists of four workshops including information on practicum, internship, resume/cover letter, and interview tips and tricks. Please bring with you your Child Life cover letter and resume

Child Life Practicum

The child life practicum program takes place in the summer (May-August) and fall (August-December).  Learn More About the Practicum Program and Download Practicum Application.

Deadlines:
Be sure that your application packet is postmarked by the appropriate deadline indicated below. Your application must be complete to be considered for an interview. Please note that submitting a completed application does not guarantee an interview or practicum placement.

September   March 30 April/May  4th Tuesday in May

Child Life Internship

The child life internship program takes place in the spring (January-May) and fall (August-December) semesters.  Learn More About the Internship Program and download an application.

All applications must be postmarked the application deadline as specified for the Association of Child Life Professionals. Your application must be complete to be considered for an interview. Please note that submitting a completed application does not guarantee an interview or internship placement. Interview candidates will be required to meet in-person, if located within a three hour drive, or via Skype.

Fellowship 

Our department also offers a Child Life Fellowship. The Fellowship is an opportunity for further learning and growing as a child life specialist once a child life internship has been completed. It is a one-year paid position that usually starts in the fall. The position is posted in late spring and the application can be located at www.oumedicine.com under the Career Center section.
